Year 4 Classwork

Year 4 classes:

  • Cadgwith – Gavin Morris
  • Porthcurno – Natasha Anderson / Hannah Greenwood
  • Polzeath – Alex Woodmason

Year 4 Autumn Term 2016, our topics were based on 'The Stone Age'.

Year4

One of our first main projects was to find out about our new class name, which is Polzeath. We found out that it is a small town on the north coast of Cornwall. It has a large popular beach that is often good for surfing on. We found out that is has been used for many T.V shows, and as well as being included in some books. The oldest building in Polzeath is called Shilla Mill, and was made in 1591. If you were lucky, you could also see puffins around the Polzeath area at certain times of the year.

Year4

Our Stone Age topic included learing about the different times within the stone age, and how people's skills developed which gradually changed their lives. We had a fanstastic visit to Chysauster Village, near Penzance. It was great to see for ourselves how people would have lived 2000 years ago. We also made some clay models of Chysauster, and some clay beaker pots - which would have been bought to England during the Bronze Age from European tribes.

Year4

Perhaps the most famous ancient site in England is Stone Henge. We found out Historians are still unsure today about why, or when Stone Henge was built. One thing that is for sure though, is that our version was much easier to make!
